2011 drive over charging
Can voltage regulators go bad and over charge? my amp for speakers goes into protect mode while driving but it's fine sitting while carts not moving haven't had chance to check voltage at wot but assuming that's whats putting amp into protect mode

Re: 2011 drive over charging
Someone else had the same issue because the charge was going up to 15v, and most equipment stops at 14 and do not like 15v. They got a different regulator that worked better iirc. The yamaha one was going on/off and when on it was 15v or more. Its ok for the battery to charge like that for short time when needed, but equipment can get angry as you have seen. The old regulator on G2 was adjustable the new ones are solid state usually. Or its just defective, I am not sure what voltage they run at.

Re: 2011 drive over charging
A car will do 14.3v in the winter, around 13.7 in summer, max charge I see after taking off with lights and stuff on in the morning. It goes down to mid 13s once it runs a little bit. But I don't know if cart VRs are temperature compensated like cars are. It takes a little more to charge in winter but carts are not used in winter really anyway. 13.5v is the proper charge voltage for a 12v battery, but the extra helps speed it up for a short time plus a car is running accessories at same time, lots of them. Yes my 1Kw stereo has a voltage meter in the HU I can watch. It was nice once when I had a wiring issue.
