Par car summit motor
Hey guys does this motor look repairabl? The stator looks burnt and The brushes are totally frozen in the housings. Dont want to spend alot of time on it if is to far gone. Also any leads on a good working used motor or a reasonably priced new motor.

Re: Par car summit motor
Its repairable. Stuck brushes is common on a par car motor that sits. The rest of it will clean up

Re: Par car summit motor
Sweet thanks. I was more concerned about the burned appearance of the armature. Side opposite the commutator. Seems like it was rubbing the inside of the field coil. Did manage to chuck the armature up in my buddies vintage craftsman lathe and clean up the commutator to a beautiful finish! The armature tested good, showing no spikes or drops in resistance between commutator bars and no shorts from bars to body. Ordered new brushes, brush holders, bearing and a new 24v solenoid. If I could figure out how to post some pics I would. Excuse the enthusiasm first dc motor build! Haha cheers

Re: Par car summit motor
Thanks friend! Cant wait to get it back to my project. Hopefully she runs. If not I think it would be a controller issue? As I'm replacing 24v solenoid as well. Solenoid seemed iffy. After applying 24v the contacts would close but then sometimes it would (open) shortly after. Figure just change it to rule that out. When I put cart in forward gear with wheels off the ground I could hear a hum and the wheels would twitch very slightly.in Reverse the beeper came on but wheels never moved.

Re: Par car summit motor
From the way that motor looked before, I wouldn't be surprised if the controller was damaged too. Will keep fingers crossed that when you remount the motor and contactor it takes off like it should for you.
