1992 ezgo(electric) problem
We purchased a 1992 electric ezgo golf cart this past weekend. You can start it and it will run for a few minutes, then it gets real sluggish(doesn't help if you push on the pedal) and it may even die. Also we did not get a charger with it and would like to know what type of charger to get. It does have brand new batteries in it. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Re: 1992 ezgo(electric) problem
Where do I start ??? Battery 101.......
Okay, NEW batteries are being permanently damaged by running them so low Get a 36v charger preferably from the people who sold you the cart.... or a Lester or Textron Powerwise. Mainly stop trying to run it until you can properly charge the batteries and goggle around till you can find some real basic lead acid battery tutorials. They are expensive and should last 5-8 years with proper care and usage! Good Luck! |

Scotty we don't understand what you mean by real basic lead acid battery tutorials. Please explain. Is that a part or a book to maintain? |

Re: 1992 ezgo(electric) problem
You need a charger! Don't leave the cart in a dis charge state long or the batteries will be shot...bad want hold a charge. If you have to use a 12 volt car charger to charge two of the batteries at a time.

Re: 1992 ezgo(electric) problem
Andy4639-If you use a car type battery charge, does that harm the batteries? Should you disconnect the other 4 batteries from the 2 being charged? Or can you just hook up battery 1 positive and battery 2 negative terminal to charger and leave series wiring in place? It would seem there maybe some bleed or drain leave other 4 batteries in place. Other than the inconvience of charging 3 tiems; is this an effective way to charge when you don't have a 36 volt regular golf cart chearger? (I know sound like I want to take the cheap Charlie route)

Re: 1992 ezgo(electric) problem
You want hurt anything by this method. It's just a long proccess as you stated. As long as the 2 batteries you are charging have the short cable connecting them you can do it this way. If it's a 92 cart your batteries should look like this. You could do them 1 at a time if the charger has a 6 volt setting as well.
