Speed and rpm
Have a 1995 gasser CC. Just got the "tiny tack" today and installed. Tach says I`m doing 4400 rpm, but just doesn`t sound like its reving that fast. GPS speed is 16 mph with 205x50x10 tires (basically stock diameter) Only thing I have done to it is remove rev limiter ground. It was bouncing on it when I got the cart. Is there a way to calculate speed verses rpm in a gasser? I can do it for an electric but don`t know the formula (if there is one) for a gasser.

Mark clutches to determine that you are shifting all the way to 1/1, determine the rear axel ratio, and multiply the outside tire diameter by 3.1416 to get circumference in inches. Than a lot of math. Good Luck.

That sounds pretty close for the size tires you have! I zip tied by buddy's (FE290) govenor spring at 44/4500 RPM's and GPS'd it at 21.5 MPH but... he has 22X10.5X12 tires and rims Larger tires will get you more speed at the top end! my 2 cents!  |

I had a CC with rev limiter disabled and GPS at 21mph at 4400rpm on 22s. Are you sure you got the right tinytach for your 1cylinder 4 stroke?

Yes I know I`d get a bit more speed with larger tires, but this is not a lifted cart. It has the 205x50x10 tires on polished aluminum rims. These tires are pretty much the same size as normal golf tires. And I`m not planning on lifting this one. NOW my other one I am. 6" spindle lift with 22" tires. Just got the lift kit yesterday. Tires have been here for a couple weeks. Wife thinks I`m nuts...I have 2 electric CCs..1 lifted 1 not. And now 2 gassers 1 going to be lifted and 1 almost a low rider. I`m just wanting to know if the tach is right before I go dis-ableing the governor. Now 4400-4600 is the "safe" (safer) rpms. whats the max rpm for say 60 seconds, for the thrill?, without really messing the engine up? Scottyb.... Yours and Lockmans were the answers I was looking for. I don`t know what was done to the cart prior to my getting it. The governor spring is not tied. And all I have done to it was dis-able the rev limiter (groung wire) as it would bounce off it with full pedal. As to the tiny tack. I assume I got the right one. I got it from one of the companys listed here. Its the TT226nr-2c. Do you know if that is the right one? Out of curiosity would I get a bit more speed at that rpm if I had the driver pully milled? 44/4600 RPM's are within range for the "burst" your looking for!
anything higher then that, may cause the valves to float! I've been told that the Kawi engines are tough... But I'd prefer not to "test" my FE350! (I've read that the FE350 can rev close to 5K on short bursts) as for getting your clutch(es) done... from what I've heard and read, Tom at Carts Parts Plus can help you out with the machining! and just a suggestion... get BOTH the drive, AND the driven clutches done at the same time! from what I understand... it's quite the change! |

Ok...IF I have the right tach. AND I`m taching 4400 now. Can I adjust the governor just a little to get me up to 4600-4700 rpm? and if so, How do I do it? Also how do I adjust the governor back down? You know just in case!!
 I don`t really want to disable the governor completely. |

To be totally honest with you, I never adjusted my govenor,
(do to the 2 year personal warranty... that just ended!) I zip tied the govenor spring... that way, if I went over on the rpm's (or if I had warranty issues) I could just cut it off and start over! I've read so many posts where people over adjust, or or disable their govenor, and want to change it back, and just can't seem to get it right where they want it! here's what I did!... On my 07 FE350, I used two VERY small zip ties... and was able to pinch it between the cable end, and the spring, so it wouldn't bind, or relocate itself!  Next, set up a tachometer (I used a car tach with a spark plug wire sensor) With the cart on jack stands.. and... in maintenence mode Install the Zip ties loosely... floor it... check the tach... release... adjust the ties evenly, and check again! hope this helps! |
