Default g19e controller

My controller is out on my stock g19e. Should I buy another stock controller or is there an upgrade that will increase performance without changing anything on the motor? What kind of money are we talking?
Thanks,
Derek

Just got a call back from the shop. They said they put my old controller back on and it's running fine. Said it reset itself. An hour ago it was going to cost me $500 and now I just owe for one hour labor. Did they help me or were they trying to get me?

Good news for you Derek ! Your G19 has a "run/tow" switch, just forward of you battery set. This can do 3 things. #1-If your car should "die" and you have to push or tow it, you need to put the switch in tow ! (this cuts off power to the controller and you won't "possibly" hurt the motor or controller, working against "anti run away and regenative breaking". #2- if your removeing/cleaning battery cables/battery post...use the "run/tow" switch. #3- If your car should "die"- and all your battery connections are good, turn the switch into "tow" and leave it there for (5 MINUTES !!!!!), this will drain the energy out of the controller components and the controller will start from "an uncharged state", many times the controller will "reset" itself. Basicly it "shut down" to "protect" it self. This doesn't work all the time, but it is always the first course of action on a Yamaha G19 thru "The Drive". Hope this helps explain you situation.

Thanks. It's sounding good. I was beginning to wonder whether the shop was shooting me straight. You guys here are a lot more knowledgeable than the guys at my local shop.
