2002 Club Car Sepex electric motor brushes problem
Hi everyone. New member here. Lots of years experience on older golf carts but I have a problem with a newer Club Car electric motor. 2002 Club Car electric, Sepex model, with what appears to be bad motor brushes. Went thru the entire trouble shooting section in the Club Car maintenance manual and got positive results on every test. MCOR, charging system, motor voltage controller, etc. Has anyone else had many problems with these motor brushes going bad after only 6 years. This golf course, that I am doing the repair for, has had one other cart with this problem and appears to have others that might have this starting to happen. They don't tow them. THe local Club Car Service Dept said that towing them might cause premature wear if not using the tow switch. I have worked on many Club Car, Yamaha, and EZ GO electrics that were up to 20 years old and never needed new motor brushes. CLub Car wants $108.00 for a new motor brushes kit. This doesn't seem right to me. Any input would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Welcome to the forum Dinger..........................
Our shop here changes the brushes out sometimes, but not too frequently, and they are usually on old carts. |

Re: 2002 Club Car Sepex electric motor brushes problem
Thanks Rusty, That has been my experience also. Two carts in two years with the possibility of others. I'm trying to figure out if this golf course is doing something to cause it or if there is another problem here. I have seen multiple times when 2 golfers were riding in the cart with a third or even forth standing on the back bumper to move along faster on the course or get over to the driving range. That can't be good for the cart in any way. I have had to reweld 12 rear bumpers back onto carts.
