G-16 heavy duty Coil overs
Anyone know of a direct replacement or slightly longer ( I have a 4"lift)
for stiffer coil over shocks. My cart seems to have too soft suspension and leans over too much in turns? |

Re: G-16 heavy duty Coil overs
I've had good luck with the "Jakes" HD coil over spring kit (for the rear), Check them out at CPP or another site sponsor. They are new replacement stiifer springs and collars, now if you could find the correct collars and compress the front springs, that would stiffen the front coils also. Shure someone will be here shortly with better info on finding them.

Re: G-16 heavy duty Coil overs
This is what I did on my G8. But I believe the spring on a G8 is taller than the one on a G16, correct me if I'm wrong. Split shaft collar, buy them at a bearing, belt, chain supply (as in roller bearings supply).

Re: G-16 heavy duty Coil overs
The only reason I used the split collar, is because I can't remove the spring on mine without pressing out the top shock bushing. On a 16, can't you remove the spring with the bushing in place? If so, you can cut 1/4" slices of pipe (3/8" wall or what ever you need) to shim your shocks. The shims do help keep the car flat in high speed cornering.

Re: G-16 heavy duty Coil overs
i did the same thing with my G22. i went to lowes and purchased pipe hangers 1 1/2 inch fit perfectly. just use two vise grips and compress the front springs to slip in the clamps. http://www.buggiesgonewild.com/attac...x-dscf1257.jpg

Re: G-16 heavy duty Coil overs
smallblock450sl, how difficult is the jakes rear spring kit for yamaha rear springs. the red ones. i see that you remove, cut the old springs, put the new ones on....and i guess the clamps just slide right in. is that correct or is a compressor needed to get the clamps in?
