Re: g2 secondary clutch
If the ramp is or can be made smooth then put new shoes in it, you can drill the holes back out even. If it ground them into submission and deformed them or you can't smooth them back out....you are kind of screwed it is likely not to shift right. If lifted consider a cut sheave for a lower first gear.
You can buy a new helix (the hub part) with the new style shoes that are better, that is what yamaha sells for them. The old style are the square shoes with a peg that goes in a hole. |

Re: g2 secondary clutch
Nope, just on the helix. Pastor D if you haven't already read the thread "Yamaha Torque Kit Instructions" do that first. It is in the "Stickies" section at the very top of the first page of the Yamaha GAs section. It will give you a primer on how to get the secondary clutches off and on. Here's the link:

Re: g2 secondary clutch
Pad on one side and smooth ramp on the other, a rough ramp will chew the shoes up. I also ground my ramps a little, lol, had to be very careful they are all the same. I ground the last inch a little for more angle. The end of ramp is just under 1/8" lower. What that did is give me more rpm under about 5mph to pull things better at low speeds. Can't go too far or the pads will fall off the ramps. There are tools to shape the ramps but I made a little jig to do it, figured it does not have to be spec perfect on a 9hp GC just very close.
