Cart goes when key is off
I am a newbie at the whole golf cart thing and really need a little help.
I just purchased a 1979 (I know it's old) EZ-GO 3 wheeler. I does move good and has newer batteries. But I have a few questions I just don;t know the answers to. 1. When the key is off and I put the cart into gear (F or R) the cart will roll. Is this right??? I had it up on blocks and put it in gear and the wheels started to spin?? 2. When I do drive it around the resistor coil seems to get pretty hot pretty quick, even if I am at full speed. Could this be a bad solenoid?? Any help would be great. Thanks! |

Re: Cart goes when key is off
both of the situations you describe are not right. check the speed wiper arm . make sure it is going from zero to WOT Sounds like you are not getting either,,,,, careful running wot on the jack stands... motor can exceed safe RPMS and grenade

Re: Cart goes when key is off
I had a similar situation with my '87. I came to find out that there was a jumper wire installed from the line + side of the coil to the first point of the wiper board. So that even with the key off, it would operate at slow speed in either direction. I removed this jumper and that problem went away. I do not know the truth on this, but was told that this is a valet feature some golf courses put on their fleet carts?
