Removing Sticky Label Off Cart
This can be moved if need be . I am talking Club Car here .
Going to attempt to remove that long yellow instruction/warning lable from below dash on '87 CC be before painting. Have some Goo-Gone and some other stuff like that. What do you suggest? Also , I have read in Paint and Body section about what to use as final clean-up prior to painting but do not remember what's best . I have cleaned with a solution of TSP/Dawn and wiped down with alcohol . Have read and known about using paint thinner but it seems to be oil based? I have Acetone and may have Mineral Spirits. I just want the paint to adhere as best as possible and at times I'm prone to mess things up ! Thanks . |

Re: Removing Sticky Label Off Cart
I would definitely NOT use acetone. The last time I used that stuff, it pretty much would dissolve anything hydrocarbon based... which would include the dash itself. I have used mineral spirits with great results in removing glues from plastics, etc. without ruining the surfaces.

I used rubbing alcohol... worked fine... Heated up with hair dryer and peeled off, used rubbing alcohol to remove adhesive...

Re: Removing Sticky Label Off Cart
I went to Home Depot and right by the Goo Gone was a spay can labeled for removal of adhesive stickers. I cannot remember the name but on the label it said it was safe for plastics so I tried it and it worked great. One tip, it took a lot of spray and patience to get it all clean.

" PB Blaster " makes a good sticker remover that won't harm ( most ) plastics. It says to try it on a hidden place first. I've used it to remove bumper stickers from plastic auto bumpers and it worked great!

Re: Removing Sticky Label Off Cart
Don't know what "MEK" is but it sounds expensive .
Going to try the heat/Goo Gone method with a plastic putty knife first . Don't know when I'll be able to get to it as I'm laid-up right now and cannot go out and play with the cart ! I'll post back when I GIT ER DONE and let ya'll know how it went . Thanks for all your replies ! This is a fantastic Forum , or I should say it has fantastic members . I will be making a small donation next wee Lord willing . |

Re: Removing Sticky Label Off Cart
Since the body is plastic, go light on the heat...
To remove my club car emblem, I flashed it with the heat gun and used wd-40 to remove the adhesive. It took a bit, but it came off nicely. |

Re: Removing Sticky Label Off Cart
Thanks ! I've already been thinking about removing that ugly thing ! Trying to come up with some kind of monogram looking , or something like that - I think - with wifes nickname or such to go there . Maybe get some LEDs and spell it out ! LOL. I like flashing lights and she does not so I'll have them flashing !!!
