why is this thing so slow!
ok got the GXI800 running today. The mikuni carb was just flooding the motor out so I cleaned out the stock carb and threw it on.
It runs. buut just not with a lot of power. anyone know what the correct length of belt is supposed to be for this cart? Also the crank moves up and down! which might point to bad crank seals. the crank does not move in and out suggestions are greatly appreciated |

Re: why is this thing so slow!
Crank moving up and down would mean possibly worn bearings. If the bottom end is this worn, the top end may be worn as well causing poor performance. Do a compression test, it should be around 130. Also, check for oil around the crank seals, if you see some then the seals are leaking a little. Poor bottom end would lead to poor fuel pump performance and poor fuel delivery.

Re: why is this thing so slow!
i can see some oil on the clutch side crank. I would most definitely say we have fuel pump issues. Also it has problems pulling vacuum at cranking speeds. It will not run at a idle at the moment. Only mid to full throttle.
I see the kit on Ebay for full rebuild at $360 shipped which is not bad. |

Re: why is this thing so slow!
Hello Shawn,
Be carefull... Are you sure, the crank isn't broken in two pieces...? Mine, with a special hardened cranck, was. Right in the middle where the pistonrod is on the cranck. I am told it was impossible with my type of cranck! The basic crancks are often broke in our kind of sport...., so all watercooled like mine have the hardened crancks. I have bearings in / on the cranck. I could move the left and right side of the cranck up and down at the same time, just like bending it, but not to the left or right. The double ballbearing and my ignitionmagnet did prevent this. The engine still was running but lost much power. Benno |
