Starting input needed
What are the pros & cons on changing the gas pedal starting to a key switch & having the engine idle. I have seen kits available to do this. Thanks for your input Jake

Re: Starting input needed
I've never run a robin engine all the time like that so i'm just guessing about most of it but one thing is for sure, you'll waste more gas running it all the time. your clutches will stay engaged longer, It could help on up and down hills (won't make much difference if your running a shorter belt, they tend to keep the clutches engaged also) The starter/generator isn't made to run this way so there may be unforeseen complications such as premature failure of the starting/charging system. I have my st480 setup were it runs all the time but thats because of how the vanguard engine starts, it just seems easier to keep it running. It has a start/gen on it like the robins engine does and I have had to replace the voltage regulator already. The cart doesn't have 400hrs on it yet. I can say I have no desire to make my other carts (that work off the pedal) run all the time. I really like them better the way they are but there is a learning curve with running a cart that shuts off when you let off the gas, this is especially true when dealing with hilly terrain.
