Default custom rear suspension

Has any one made there own rear suspension lift, i have an 88 ezgo that i will be starting the lift this weekend. i just picked up a set of 26" tires with rims and made some adapter/spacer plates for the rear, now to start the lift. i have a few sets of coil overs from atv's that ill be trying out. so i was just curious whats been done so far.

Lots of guys have done this, especially with coil overs. Not that difficult if you can cut and weld steel. I have a Yamaha cart, but the the idea is the same with coil overs.

i was wondering/thinking about lowering and moving the engine cradle/swing arm back a few inches. mounting the coil overs seems pretty easy.

I lowered and moved back the engine cradle/swing arm assembly on my 93 Marathon. Two inches down and three inches back was all I could get without longer choke/brake/accelerator cables. This allowed five inches of lift with coilover shocks while keeping the motor at a somewhat decent angle. I used 1/4 flat stock welded to cradle tabs with drilled holes to mount on original frame location.

I extended my swingarm 8" and just fabricated a drop cradle for the engine. Dropping the swingarm is a good thing with a lift and engine upgrade, but it isn't easy. Some have done it but had the drop brackets break at the welds. Some reinforcing is needed at the brackets since they take a lot of load holding the swing arm.

I also dropped the front of my cradle and moved it back some as well.

It set the tires too far back so I then moved the body back and now have more leg room, which is really nice.
