Not sure, but it sounds like spider unthreaded . Good luck let us know what happened, a lot of threads die and we never hear what the fix was and inquiring minds want to know.

will do , have a few tools, if they made it,
I'm going to try to remake it ,
found out that on this model comet
used imported 'plastic ' weights , may can replace them with home made
( strike that ) hand built brass ones .

pulled gas tank , pulled clutch , opened clutch , cleaned it out good with brush and air blower , lubed it witk a spray penetrating oil , put it all back together and it works fine , guess it just dirty , ( no cover on it and it opens up when it engagues anyway )

If its the C94; which it probably is, there is a dust cover that is avalable for them. Well they are made for oem comet clutches which are the c94 with a tapered shaft. but shouldnt matter for the cover. you might just have to tap 2 small holes for the cover on the outside edge of the clutch like on oem comet clutches. Or you clutch should already have them tapped.

it looks like this.

just thought i would point it out

The box it came in was marked 94c but the clutch isn't , it has 3 spring loaded steel rollers , and the whole mechanism opens up when engaged , so a a dust cover wouldn't work anyway .
I believe it's a comet 780 , now that it has been cleaned and lubed it lights up the 20" rear tires when you jump it .

This is my first post! I am the proud owner of a fully restored 74 Harley gas cart. I rebuilt the upper end of the engine only to have the crank seize. I am now in the process of installing a 23hp Kohler OHV V-Twin. I need to find a decent Comet 94C Drive Clutch with a 1" bore.
