Primary Drive Clutch compatability?
I am converting john deere gator to electric , which has a secondary clutch (driven), but since i have installed an electric motor , I need a Drive Clutch (primary clutch)
but wasnt sure if i could use a yamaha or polaris primary drive clutch dont know mcuh about clutches, but it appears anyone should work as long as i can get it on the crankshaft of the dc motor? is that correct? |

Re: Primary Drive Clutch compatability?
I'm far from any sort of expert on anything but I don't know that I have seen an electric cart sort of thing with a clutch. The ones I have seen have been direct drive usually the motor actually bolts into the differential. Some have some sort of coupler and others the motor has a gear on it.
If you still want a clutch maybe look in the go cart sort of world? I believe they have them that fit on straight keyed shafts assuming that is what your motor has. I think many other clutch type applications have tapered or splined shafts. Sounds like an interesting project. What sort of motor and control are you using? So many cool options these days. |
