Yamaha G1 gas not starting.
First golf cart! Not new to 2-stroke work.
I have a Yamaha G1 (do not know the year) that I just put In a new fuel filter, air filter, spark plug, and carburetor. I primed the fuel and still seems to not get any fuel. There is fuel being pulled from the tank, but not in the carburetor. I sprayed started fluid in it while trying to start and it would kick over for a second. Seems to be a vacuum issue? When I got the golf cart there was not carburetor in it. I’m 99% confident I have connected it correctly. Anyone have a diagram of how it should be? |

Re: Yamaha G1 gas not starting.
The G1 is a great cart, but they are pretty old now. It's important to read the service manual and be familiar with basic mechanics because this cart will need your attention. |

Re: Yamaha G1 gas not starting.
You might have a blockage in the fuel pump. With these old carts I just replace the pump. The Yamaha pump is very expensive, so I use the Briggs fuel pump. These pumps are vacuum operated, so you need to check the rubber hose that goes to the pulse fitting on the engine, make sure that is new and/or good condition.
To prime, I usually blow compressed air into the fuel tank until I see fuel coming out the fuel line at the carb. Take that line off the carb and put into a jar or coffee can. Blow the air until you see straight fuel coming out. It's primed. You can do the same once you hook the line back up to fill the carb bowl. She should fire then. P.S. Don't run a 2 stroke on Ether/Starting fluid, there is no oil in that stuff and it can damage the engine. Use a squirt bottle with premixed fuel at 100:1 and squirt the fuel into the carb. |
