98 EZGO Alltrax/Solenoid/SW202 Upgrade - Wiring not working
I am new here and have been enjoying reading all the posts. I picked up a 98 EZGO TXT and have been working on upgrades. I am looking for help or reassurance that I am on the correct path.
I purchased the Alltrax SR48400, MZJ 400 Solenoid, and the SW202 Reversing contactor. I found a post here with a diagram and followed it to the tee. I do not have power or any LEDs on the controller. Nothing happens when I turn the key or step on the pedal. I have included a picture of the diagram I originally followed. In the thread, there are comments about adding a wire to the key switch for power: I have a blue and green to the key right now-blue goes to small red wire from the charger, green goes to the foot pedal green and the controller green. Do I need to add a wire from key blue to the battery pack? One other question is if I add a blue key wire to the battery pack - I see that I need a fuse on the Alltrax diagram. It says 60VDC - I don't know what that is exactly, would that be a regular blade fuse 60VDC - 15AMP There is also a comment about the magnetic blowouts that says, "You can swap where the S2 cable and the cable that comes from the Controller B+ connect to the Reversing Contactor to fix the problem." I have the two plus signs on the top of my SW202. This is the original picture I used for my wiring: And this was what I came up with to continue. I am just hoping for someone's expertise to guide me: I added a red line from the key to the battery pack with a blade fuse I added both the white and black charger wires I added two yellow lines below to show the swap of S2 and the B+ on the SW202 This is link to the old post I followed: https://buggiesgonewild.com/showthread.php?t=160090 Thank You for your help. Your knowledge and experience is much appreciated |

Re: 98 EZGO Alltrax/Solenoid/SW202 Upgrade - Wiring not working
You need to chase where you are losing power. Controller is grounded so that is done. Regular 15 amp fuse is fine. With your meter set on a high enough voltage put the negative on controller negative and check both sides of the key switch. If power on both with key on check your red coming back from the pedal switch. It should be pack voltage when the pedal is pushed. If not you have a bad pedal switch or the 4 pin molex plug in that circuit has failed.

Re: 98 EZGO Alltrax/Solenoid/SW202 Upgrade - Wiring not working
I have not wired up the second picture yet. I wanted to make sure it was correct before I did it. I am just looking for confirmation that the mock-up is correct first.
I also found out that the solenoid I purchased is an MZJ-400A 24V. I am ordering a 36V right now. Shipping says another week |

You can still check the activation circuit.. power starts at the charger receptacle then comes to the controller side in a loom with the white and black charger wires. That used to go to the switch on the fnr. That is blue going to the key and so on.

Re: 98 EZGO Alltrax/Solenoid/SW202 Upgrade - Wiring not working
I think I got activation working now. There was no power on blue line to key from the charger third wire. There was another wire from the battery pack for battery level indicator. I hooked that up to key and now everything is activating.
Key on - full battery pack level now In neutral - press on pedal and hear solenoid click In forward - press on pedal and hear solenoid and SW202 click In reverse - press on pedal and hear solenoid and SW202 click wheels are jacked up and not spinning at all controller flashes green four times and goes to solid green in all of the three stages above. |

I am wired up as the first picture shows. Should I change to the second picture? I have also found another wiring document from Alltrax showing another way to wire up.

The voltage on black and white on the pedal is
white - 9.0 to 5.7 when pressed black - 0 to 1.5 when pressed |
