Default 36V marathon wide open throttle

New to the golf cart world guys, however have a pretty decent electrical background. I have what I believe to be a 1993 Marathon cart I bought used. Brand new batteries, brand new solenoid, and brand new pots meter. I have been thru the battery checks/test and also the pots meter. Everything appears to be working as it should. And if I am reading an old forum on here correctly the speed controller is testing good as well. My question is, since I bought used is it possible that it’s wired wrong/backwards? I have full throttle in forward and reverse no matter how much the go pedal is pushed. As soon as that solenoid clicks it’s wide open!! Cart is a blast to ride, just a little hairy parking in the garage 😭😝😂. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Not sure I can offer a diagnosis, but I'm dealing with the exact opposite right now......full pedal and nothing. I "think" I've diagnosed my potentiometer as the culprit. The following link to a previous thread had the electrical troubleshooting PDF for your cart (same year as mine) that you can download. Super helpful for me.

If that doesn't work, Google search this document "90-95 MARATHON ELECTRIC TROUBLESHOOTING.pdf" and the thread should pop up.

The throttle output of the Marathon should be 0-5000Ω(0-5K).
Both the potentiometer (signal device) and the controller can be found in 0-5k and 5k-0 configuration.
The could have a mismatched throttle potentiometer and controller situation.
