Default ‘04 Club Car DS steering slipping when turned all the way left.

Hello,
Sometime last week, I noticed my steering was slipping when I turned the wheel all the way to the left. The tired would not move, but the steering wheel kept turning. After a little wiggling, I could get the wheel to catch and resume driving it.

I did some detective work today and found that the Snap ring on the rack (driver’s side) was popped off, and the large stop washer was freely moving 1/2 inch in both directions. This would explain why my steering was slipping (rack was traveling too far).

I know I could put a new Snap ring on and call it a day, but I fear it will just break again. I wonder it has something to do with the lift kit I have installed. Is that C-clip/snap ring the only thing that stops the rack from sliding too far past the pinion gear? Any ideas on how to guarantee this doesn’t happen again would be very much appreciated. Thank you!

They make steering stops which bolt on and act as hard stops stopping the spindles from turning too far left or right. Don’t know if these would help as I guess you could keep cranking the wheel even after the spindles have hit the stops?
