Default Serial number

Trying to determine the year of my go cart, I looked all across the rear x-member (where all the research directedme), nada!
It seems as though some nimrod ,(not me) made new bumper brackets for it, and welded plating over the left side, behind the wheel. Nope, don't have Superman vision to see through it.
My question is, there is a code "J24" on the engine, does that signify 1983?
Meaning the cart/enginemail could be '83 port newer?
Thanks for any help.

Can you post a picture of the engine compartment. If J24 is on the engine (unless it was transplanted) you have an 83 or up. "Groot", I love that caricature!

I am Groot (I'll get a better pic of engine compartment in a little bit).
Yeah, I may be older, but still like certain cartoon type characters. I refuse to grow up...lol.

I cant seem to post a video on this website from my phone for serial locations. good its not a j17 or the j10 as I don't think the lifts work on the J10 (79-81) without swapping in later model parts

If your on facebook look up the Yamaha G1 G3 group. I recently posted 2 videos for serial locaions

Looks like you have a boost bottle, the blue box with Yamaha on it bolted to the shroud just above the carburetor in the second pic. I believe the boost bottle was used on model year 1983 and up.
