Default 94 DS no power after bad solenoid

The history on this cart is I got it for free.

It had bad 8v batteries in it which I replaced with the same. It ran great for a year good power long run time etc. Then the solenoid hung up when it was parked. I got the batteries charged back and they test good as best as i can test them. Issue is no power at all can barley go 3 mph. Once i started researching i figured out that apparently it hadn't been converted correctly because it still has resistor coils and a v glide.

I have been testing wires and starting to test resistors. I'd like to know what I need to do to convert it correctly to 48v while I'm fixing it.

Thanks

Someone on here can correct me if I'm wrong but I believe the 94 was only a 36V model. Especially since it has the resistor coils and vglide.

The first step would be to truly check the batteries. Check out this post:

You'll need a good DVM with some alligator clips to check the entire pack under load and under no load. Then do the same check (load/no load) on each individual battery. Use this chart to determine charging status and then report back your findings.

As for upgrading correctly, contact ScottyB at CartsUnlimited or Tahoedawg71 at Revolution Carts. They both can point you in the right direction. I just finished my coil/vglide upgrade to electronics with the help of ScottyB. As soon as my batteries go, I'll be upgrading to 48V.

It was a 36v and somebody put 8v batteries in it in place of the 6v they didn't even upgrade the charger. That's why I wound up with it free it wouldn't run long on a charge because it was being at 36v.

I'm having trouble with my photobucket account. It looks like any standard resistor coil cart with the exception of having 8 volt batteries.

It has 1 solenoid and the set of coils

Are you sure it has only 1 solenoid?

After 1988 they all had 1 solenoid.

Yes just 1 solenoid. I replaced it with a 48v rated one when the 36 went bad

Well I got my cart running again I had forward and reverse wires switched. That gets me going for now I think I'm going to look for a better cart in the future instead of upgrading this one.

Thanks for all you guys help!
