Lightbulb Testing the Ignition System in 1984-1991 Gas Club Car DS Carts

I extracted this section from the 1986-1991 Club Car DS manual for the old KF82/FZ340 carts. This procedure is likely the same for the 1984-85 carts as well, so I included them in the thread title. This is how you can test the ignition system if you think you may have a bad coil. Seems like this is asked about alot, but we never really lay out the proper procedure.

i like this stuff you come up with on these old club cars.i have a question,on 90 and 91 they have a rev limiter between the pulser and ignition coil,do you have a test for this?also doe's the one like you have pictured have a rev limiter built into the coil?

I know that the 1990-91 carts are different slightly, but I didn't see any other alternate procedures. The manual I have was dated October 1991 so I would think it would have covered the newer ignitions. Not sure on that one.

I imagine that the procedures would carry over, one is just pulling the kill wire, two are just checking coil resistances, and then you check the spark plug. They just don't have anything noted about the rev limiters.

I would guess no, but I don't think it would change the circuit at all. If the rev limiter is completely housed within the CDI unit then everything would probably be the same. The coil in the drawing looks exactly like the coil on my 1987 cart, which has no internal (or external) rev limiter.

Here's the diagram from earlier. Since Photobucket decided to charge $300 per year to host images, I declined and now all my image links are broken. But I've migrated to another image hosting platform so here's that ignition testing procedure from the first post:
