![]() I have a 99 club car ds. When I push the gas it gives one initial rev (try) to start the cart then just keeps turning over. Originally I thought it was a fuel sending problem so changed the fuel pump, lines, and carburetor. After it fired up and ran the other day I knew it was not fixed because it did that same things a couple times then all of a sudden it ran. Went out there tonight and again same thing. I checked spark with a screwdriver and when I checked it seemed to be ok. Definitely an intermittent problem. i was thinking coil next but that seems like a big expensive job, seems like ignitor and coil are one in the same. Any ideas? Thanks to anyone that responds.

![]() It's possible it could be the igniter going bad
Mine did about like this when it was cold I ended up going to a big block |

![]() A 99 doesn't have a separate ignitor, it's built into the coil.
This is a pretty common scenario for a failing Rev Limiter. On the lower front of your engine you'll see a 1" x 2" box, that's your rev limiter! remove it's ground wire from the left mounting bolt of the limiter, tape it up to prevent grounding, and test run! ![]() |

![]() Thank you for that. I just got this msg but when I was out there tonight i checked spark while pushing on the gas pedal and it kept sparking to the screwdriver. I then hooked it back up and so far it fired up about 20 times. I don't feel like I am out of the woods so maybe I should just change the rev limiter. Maybe a short in the plug wire the end looked good.

![]() Then again maybe not I just looked at the price of a rev limiter. You are saying take the ground off if it happens again and if it starts its the rev limiter?

![]() You may also have a problem with your spark plug boot... Yes, spark plug boots are replaceable! BUT... if it's running? "Don't fix it if it ain't broke!" ![]() |

![]() I took the ground off the rev limiter and it is starting every time. I am going to clean the ground and hope it runs. How important is the rev limiter?

![]() As long as your governor has not been tampered with, (zip tie, adjusted for more speed) you'll be okay with the ground disconnected.
Just beware of long, steep down hill runs at full throttle! ![]() |
