1992 ds

I just purchased a 1992 DS. It is being delivered next week, they are installing a rear seat. I am planning on painting it and adding a few things. This site has given me many ideas,

Anything I should be aware of with this model year of cart?

well its a 36 volt cart and your adding a backseat i imagine to ride people back there......make sure your batteries are good always and don,t be surprised if your un-happy with the cart when you have a full load of people on it.........this is just my opinion but with a back seat and lights when both are being used thats asking more than the norm for a 36 volt cart........its just gonna have a good effect on your speed which under the best of conditions is 10 to 12 mph and your run time...you would have been much better with a 48 volt cart...........make sure your batteries and cables are all in good working order............................

Batteries are 2007 and passed run down test.

It zipped along pretty good when I test drove it.

I suppose I should be browsing the site for 48v upgrades!

What year did they go with 48v? I bought it from a local dealer. They told me there were no differences between the 1992 and 1995 models. I haven't paid for the cart yet. I will give them a call on Monday.

48 volt started in 1995 and yes you can updrade a 36 volt cart to 48 volt however its not cheap.................depending on what your paying it may not be a bad idea to look at a 48 volt cart.....don,t get me wrong theres nothing wrong with a 36 volt cart but you need to think how its going to be used as far as weight and runtime...................batteries are 2007 so that makes them 5 years old and also depending on how they were maintained you,ll be replacing them in a year......do you know the people at this cart shop?? if not all i can tell you is you,ll more than likely get more honest answers and opinions here and it would be a big help if you know anyone who knows abouts carts to help you out....................we see people get shortchanged here quite often.................whatever you decide good luck and post any questions you have or problems theres always someone willing to try and help and yes 36 volt vs 48 volt differences are night and day but no if both the 1992 and 1995 are 36 volt they are correct.....they started 48 volt in 1995 along with 36 volt and stopped 36 volt in 2003 i beleive so between 1995 and 2003 you can get either a 36 volt cart or a 48 volt cart and its not fair to try and compare them 48 volt wins hands down......................................:)

Thanks for the advice. The dealer does have a 1995 48v with 2011 batteries at another location. It does not have lights.

I may peruse that cart instead. They are asking $1500. I would need to add the seat, lights and windshield.

The 1992 was 1800 out the door with rear seat kit added and new wheel covers.

What do you think.

well your not gonna have to spend 700+ on batteries which you can put to seat and lights..............the price sounds good if it has 2011 batteries..............................

Agree. Go with the 48v if only for the new batteries! I have a 1989 36v CC with a back seat and 2007 batteries. It runs fine but the batteries are showing their age...

Seat kit about $300 or so . . . light kit about $90 or so . . . windshield about $90 or so . . . battery upgrade from 36-48v $$$$$

Me, I would go with the 95 that has the 48v system and add the other stuff I wanted and would still be ahead of converting the 36v to a 48v cart . .

I have to agree, I have a 36V and looking at the dollars it will take to upgrade it to 48v, you are ahead of the game with the 48. Especially when you consider the new batteries you'll likely need soon. About 700 bucks around here for Trojans. Oh yea...then you would need a 48V charger....
