Default Adding JUST brake lights with no pre-fab harness?

I have a custom LED light bar headlight setup on the front of my cart that works on a switch (cart does not have a wiring harness, wired myself). However, my new neighborhood is making me add brake lights so I need to figure out how to custom wire tail lights/brake lights without having anything to do with the headlights. I don’t want them on the switch as they need to be on at all times. I will attach my current diagram thoughts but need help thinking through the rest of the wiring…

Using the RHOX LGT-164 Brake Switch that leaves me with 3 wires going back into the cart. 12+, 12-, and “other”. Should all 3 wires go to the brake light and at the same time tap the 12+ and 12- to go to the power source? is the "other" wire the brighter brake light function and the 12+ is the dimmer tail light? Please let me know your thoughts! Thanks!

Either the red or blue wire will be "full bright, brake on" wire, the other will be "low, running light" (which I don't think you want to use. Your current configuration will have the light on at all times. The red wire from the battery should not go to the brake light, only to the brake switch.

I am told I need to have the “low” taillight on at all times and the “bright” brake light come on when braking. Based on your comment above my “other” wire has to be plugged into one or the other if the 12+ doesn’t go directly to the tail light? How can I get both a taillight and brake light with the wire setup shown? Also, will I need to add a relay at any point in the wiring?

Based on your answers I’ll draft up a new picture tomorrow and see if you agree. Thanks CGTech, you were the one I was hoping would find this! Lol

So you have to have the running lamp on at all times , not just at night? Automobiles don't require the running lamps on at all times, only when headlamps are on.

That’s a good point I will fight that. Assuming I win, maybe I tie the “low level” light into the switch for the headlights and the “high level” light into the brake pad? That way brake lights work at all times but taillights only come on at night when the headlights are on. Makes sense to me... let me draw up a new diagram and I’ll post it below, one minute

New diagram attached. You think this will work before I buy all the supplies? Tail light comes on with headlight and brake light is on when pedal is pressed no matter if headlights are on or not...

That looks good to me, assuming you have your blue & red wires right for high & low.

Sweet! Thanks for your help!

Worst case scenario they are backwards cause I am guessing too and I’ll just flip em’. I’ll post a final update on here once I get everything wired up!
