Great build, but I'm a little confused. If the resin melts the foam, what is used for surf boards?

Polyester resin melts polystyrene foam. Surf boards are usually polyurethane foam. Epoxy resin wont melt either foam, but we choose polyester resin and polystyrene foam because of cost.
