2005 motor in a 1990
I have a 1990 Club car with no motor. I was going to convert to a big block. Long story short I decided to sell the cart but found a 2005 352 cc club car motor for sale right down the street. My question is how much work is it to put this motor in my cart and return to stock (if it is even possible). I would rather return the cart to stock and sell it for more than spending a lot of time and money on the big block conversion . I pretty much have all the parts except the exhaust pipe. I also have a brand new 13hp motor that came with the cart. Any thoughts?

Here's the thing...
Your 1990 cart has a counter clockwise transaxle, The 2005 FE350 (if it came out of a Club Car) will be clockwise rotation, It's easily doable... but, the cart will will go forward with the shifter in reverse, and vice versa. What brand is the 13hp engine you have? |

The manual says Greyhound, I think it is a Harbor Freight engine. I was wondering about the rotation, if it is just a backwards on the shift I guess that is no big deal.

Are the mount holes in the same place? I saw a 295cc motor on craigslist that might work better.

No the holes don't mount in the same place. The 1990 cart came with a KF82 flathead. The newer "FE" motors like the ones you're talking about didn't show up in Club Cars until 1992. AFAIK, nobody here has ever done that swap and told us about it, so it's hard to tell how difficult or not it is.

Just to let you know... most aftermarket engines are counter clockwise rotation!
I think there's a Honda engine that may be clockwise, but I'm not 100% sure on that! There maybe a just little bit of fab work to get an aftermarket engine to mount in your 1990, (engine mounting plate or new holes) I have a 2007 cart (clockwise transaxle) and the only reason I don't have a big block is because, I don't want to have my Jake's shifter in reverse while going forward! (that... and I'm too lazy to fab something to make it work properly!  ).02 |

I can live without the correct rotation, I didn't want to get into drilling new mounts.
