As for the oil plug, I'd first try and tap it with the correct size tap. Just to chase the threads and maybe it will clean back up as long as it's not COMPLETELY stripped and spinning freely in there. Otherwise I've always used a time-sert when j get a stripped out drain plug. It's sort of like a helicoil but permanent.
Considering the neck is a press fit item, I wonder if trying a new neck might do the trick?

$42 for one on e-bay....

As for tapping the oil drain hole in the block, if the bolt takes a 17mm socket, am I to assume from the chart that it is an M12 bolt? What thread pitch?

Just another tip.... after you tap the new threads very slowly pour a quart of cheap oil through the engine just to be sure you flush out any shavings from tapping.

Godfather - J-ROB is ahead of ya . . . ( see post #9 )

Has anyone tried to swage/stretch the old oil tube? A small pipe expander, like used for exhaust tubing. Cheaper than a new tube, would satisfy not using jb weld, could be made to custom fit. May need a little heat during expansion.
My 2 cents

That's a good idea, where would I find something like that?
