Default Alltrax XCT throttle position

I have recently installed an Alltrax XCT 500A controller on my Ezgo 48V TXT48.
I used the software to monitor the performance during a drive. The throttle position only went to 94% even when I had it floored.

Is there some sort of calibration I need to do on my throttle so it will reach 100%?

The XCT auto-calibrates to whatever the ITS sensor is putting out and interprets it as 0% to 100% throttle.

You may have to manually tell the controller to re-learn the the throttle if it isn't going to 100%.

I believe the re-lean function is in the Tools tab at the top of ToolKit screen.

Of course, open up the pedal box and making sure the plunger is adjusted properly so the ITS sensor puts out a good signal is good thing to check.

I checked it again and looks like it is now auto-calibrating to 100%. I will check the ITS sensor during my next maintenance window. Thanks!

It can take the XCT several tries to 'average out' the signal and set the new parameters. I mention this in my install instruction.

However, had it not compensated properly you could have
A. asked to try again
B. adjusted the throttle curve to set 94% as 100

What are you talking about? Those fancy/worthless "programmable controllers"?

Those needless auto-ranging self calibrating throttle sensors

And the silly reverse polarity protection, overrated peak outputs, and one touch programming - and the useless camera on your phone.

What kind of speed/torque increase did you get from the Alltrax XCT? I have the same cart and just ordered the controller from Scotty B. Are you planning on keeping the motor stock?

Stock controller I was at 16mph. Top speed with XCT is 24.5 mph. Rpm limit is 6000 and amp limit is 435 I think.
Torque is better all around.

I will stick with stock motor for a while. It goes fast enough for a neighborhood cruiser. 👍

If you were running a stock PDS controller (300A) and are going to a XCT400 (400A), you'll get about a 33% increase in low end torque.

If you are going to a XCT500, you need to adjust the max amps down to about 400A to avoid burning up the stock PDS motor, so the low end torque gain is about 33% also.

Top speed with an XCT depends on you tire height, differential gear ratio and the pack voltage.

Max motor RPM for a stock PDS motor with a 36V battery pack is about 5600 RPM, which is about 24 MPH with stock height (18") tires and stock (12.44:1) gears. (With Turbo turned off, the top speed will be a bit less)

------------
Sticking with a stock PDS motor or going to an aftermarket one depends on what you want to do with the cart. If you put tall tires on it, or a rear seat or haul/tow heavy things, you may want to consider a more robust motor, but a stock PDS motor is enough for many, if not most, builds.

Had I not done something exceedingly stupid a couple years ago, I'd probably still be running a stock PDS motor.

Go to 42V or 48V when you have to replace the batteries.

Increasing the pack voltage will give you both an increase in speed and an increase in torque through out the RPM range of the motor.
