All jokes aside, read this post I did back when I first started on my buggy. look at the bottom of the post where I talked about using the original clutch.
This worked like a charm on the 16 hp Kohler. On the inside of the original EZGO clutch, (at least on mine), there is about 3/4 to 1" of strait shaft at the outside end. and it is a TIGHT fit on the Kohler shaft. I actually had to lightly sand the inside of the clutch ID to get it to go on all the way. It's still running just fine like that. It may or may not work for you, but it did for me.

THANKS. i am just getting started on working on my carts. my first cart is the dead workhorse that the post is about. then i started buying every junk cart i could get. i got a harly, a 2nd workhors, a club, and a yamm. so i plan on a lot of different projects but i first got to get the dead work horse back in the road be cause i use it at me dads farm. o ya i got a 79 sled before christmass that has a 500cc air cooled engine in it with onle 400 hours on it only cost 150 bucks. its going to go in one of the the other cart that im going to keep for my self
