2010 Precedent Brake Light Sitch
Okay, I've installed my amp and light kit. Lights (on/off with dash swtich) and amp all work great. However, I also installed a brake light switch with the timer box. The brake lights do not come on with the brake pedal.
I installed according to the instructions. The only thing I'm unsure about is the push button type fuse that was wired in with the brake switch. I've never used that type of fuse/circuit breaker. It there something I need to do to trip this thing? I'm pretty sure that is the culprit. When I stalled it the button on the top would push in and pop out just like a button on a controller. No idea how to set that thing? Anyone have any ideas? |

Re: 2010 Precedent Brake Light Sitch
I just thought about this and let me add this thought. The brake switch came with a relay to connect to the light kit harness at the end where the 9-pin connector is. This relay calls for 48V power. However, I wired my light kit to a voltage reducer and only supplied 12V to the main blue wire for the light kit. Is that my problem? Maybe I need to rewire relay? Or remove relay completely?
Any wiring gurus want to take a hack at this? |

Sounds like the relay needs 48 volts to me. With no reducer

Re: 2010 Precedent Brake Light Sitch
Is the only point of the relay to switch 48V to 12V to the brake switch? Since I only have 12V running to the light kit harness, can't I simply connect the 48V input wire (which now only has 12V) to the 12V output wire (to the brake switch) on the relay?

Connect the 2 wires marked as 12v in the picture that come from your wiring harness together.

The Gray wire in the new harness (male bullet) has to connect to the Gray female behind the dash,it's not in the instructions but is has to be there.
