Default Increasing the Speed of a 4 stroke G5?

Just became the proud owner of a 1995 G5 Sun Classic (4 Stroke). I have done a good deal of searching, and am having trouble finding both a new secondary clutch, as well as an easy way to increase the speed. Anyone here have experience with these carts? I have heard the engine is very similar to current day carts.. any truth to this?

Thanks!

Congates on your new toy People either love or hate Sun classic's, hope you will enjoy yours. There is a threaded rod (at the govenor arm) that has a 10mm head nut, just turn it clockwise, the more you turn it in, the faster you'll go. Site sponsor www.cartpartsplus.com has a "govenor speed spring" that can make it go really fast (not off the line, but just goes faster and faster), but with the G5 body panels...it would be a bear to install. Good luck and lets see some pictures of it.

Usually (when the cart is cold!) you can climb/reach under the rear bumper and reach up over the trans to the top of it, and tighten the speed adjusting nut. Beyond that better to put HS gears in or lift and larger tires to gear it up. IIRC that is G2/G9 drivetrain? The clutch parts will not make it go faster though if yours are messed up the cart will be slower, or your belt is toast, that hurts performance.

Awesome! Thanks for the tip. Going to get the Secondary clutch replaced and then give this a shot. Going to do some minor cosmetic work (re-cover the seats, touch up paint, and add a back seat, then this beast is making it way to the forum!

Thanks again!
