It's a dog.
I just got my cart home today and took it for a drive. It is kinda slow and a dog on even a little hill. It is a 2005 36v txt. I plan to eventually go 42v with a higher torque motor. The wires on the batteries are 4 gauge. I think the other wires are 6. I plan on replacing them to 4 also. Will I see even a tiny bit of improvement? I will get to 42v one piece at a time. My batteries are 2 years old so by the time they go I hope to have everything else 42v ready. What order should I buy the needed parts to install that would help me while I am at 36 so when the time comes all I have left is to install batteries to go 42.

Luke,
It's a shame the pic is so small You might want to consider running 48v vs 42. You'll find more options for 48 Good luck |

Wow! All that tire is a lot to ask of a stock drive. It's no wonder you're straining it on inclines! Were I you, I'd definitely be looking at 2 ga cables. The difference was night & day in my cart, but I still have stock tires.

Re: It's a dog.
All show and no go Nice tires and seats, though.
You will need 48v to make it perform respectably. Don't waste time with 42v. Everything costs the same or more than 48v with less performance. Just price a 42v charger and you'll see what i mean. 42v carts run on 48v controls ... Use 2g cable for the best delivery capacity & so you can use a big aftermarket motor later if desired. The little at a time plan would look something like this: 2g Cable set HD F&R 36-48v 500a Control & 400a sol. kit Batteries Motor. The cart will need a drive system something like this one to perform well. |

Re: It's a dog.
Anyone know the lengths of all the cables I need? I tried searching but I am away from home and using my phone to surf. When I try to search it only let's me put one letter in the search box.

I just did mine one at a time. I bought a 25' spool. There's some left over.

Thanks. When I get back I will visit some welding shops and compare Internet prices too.

Re: It's a dog.
Got the 2g cables on yesterday. It was a big help. The 6g just wasn't cutting it. It still slows a little going up the hills but not as bad as before. All the parts to make the cables (including crimper and another 4lb sledge after mine broke) was around $125. Now time to save up and keep upgrading.
