Default yamaha g1 engine swap question

ok iv got a stock g1 with the mods that can be done to it already.... i want more power so i went and seen my grandpa and he gave me and old racing engine...a yamie 292 sc from what iv read modded out they will turn like 60hp! im not going that far but id guess it would stock be somewhere around 30 here is a couple pics of it but the biggest problem is the crank shaft i kinda wanted to be able to run the stock clutch but i can not the crank is to long and its splined for the sliding sheeth to move on its not part of the stationary sheeth but up close to the crank case it does have a taper.... would its be ok to cut the shaft off and drill n tap it so i can use a regular g1 clutch? and its all beacuse of i want to use the starter generator...

of corse i did not take a pic of the crankshaft but i will..

Providing it fit, I would think you could cut it and tap it, but I have never done one. I would try to use the sled clutch and the pipe for the engine for the most power, but up to what you can find. All the old sleds did have power to run lights and charge a battery, most had a gear on the back of the clutch to use a starter on (automotive style, if they had electric start many did not). Places today will mount a ring gear they do that for certain racing midgets that use sled engines.
