2001 EZGO Electric Shuttle-Lift with Hydraulic Brakes Problem
I should have crawled under the cart when I was test driving it. The previous owner did not like the fact that his previous owner disabled the EB when they installed the rear lift blocks. The small EB arm coming out of the top of the drum above the axle was in the way so they cut it off to make room for the block. My previous owner then replaced the brake assembly, and new torque spiders but to make room for the EB arm (lever?) he cut though 2/3 of the outside of each lift block and one of the U-bolts. I'm going to try to post a picture in another post.
My question is how can I replace the lift block AND have an EB brake? can I swap and flip brake assemblies so the EB arm is underneath the axle? Thanks in advance, CB |

Here's another way to skin a cat. Let the hydraulic brakes be your park brake with this device.

Re: 2001 EZGO Electric Shuttle-Lift with Hydraulic Brakes Problem
If you read the customer comments on the product, it's operation is further explained. There are other things like this too, with a lever, you press brake, flip lever, release pedal. Brake stays locked until lever flipped again. This was just the first/cheapest one I found. This type product is commonly used on forklifts.

Re: 2001 EZGO Electric Shuttle-Lift with Hydraulic Brakes Problem
holy cr@p, that would have saved the previous owner a ton of money and wouldn't have compramised the integrity of the lift brackets (blocks, whatever, I"m new at this). If I have to replace the brackets (blocks) I will cut off the EB, PB (emergency or parking) lever, arm and intall this doodad.
Seriously he told me he spent 1500+ on the PB intall. |

Re: 2001 EZGO Electric Shuttle-Lift with Hydraulic Brakes Problem
OP:
Thanks in advance, CB So I can post pictures now. I have actually come to terms with this. I am not thrilled about the cut lifts (blocks) but see that all bolts are secure. Front U-bolt intact. Rear U-bolt welded to the axle as well as the block. Brakes work fine. I was (am) more concerned about capacity the cut block can handle. Although it's a six passenger cart, usually only has 1-2 and only has 4 seats with cargo deck on back. Looking for any comments, suggestions!? Thanks, CB [IMG][/IMG] |

Not bad really , but there is room for more support. Double up on metal ,perhaps angle a bit more to cross fit

What did you end up doing? I just got a shuttle 6 and am trying to figure out a solution for the rear lift.
