Re: Club Car 2010 Precedent. Brake Light Switch Install
I think I just replaced the same type of switch on a cart.
Have you installed the rubber brake pedal pad over the thin film switch yet? |

FWIW here is a pic of the connections of a switch like yours that works correctly.

Yes, that's exactly how ours looks. I had seen a post mentioning the fact that if the rubber plate is too tight it might keep continuous pressure on the switch. I'm going to go check that out now as well.

Re: Club Car 2010 Precedent. Brake Light Switch Install
remove the rubber pad and leave the wires connected as is.
put your VOM meter on ohms ( 200 or 2K ohms setting will be ok ) connect the 2 leads from the vom to the 2 wires coming off the brake pedal switch. it should read max ohms with nothing touching the switch membrane push the membrane with your fingers....push hard enough to see the vom ohm reading go to 0. move your fingers to different locations around the brake switch everytime you press the switch the vom should go to zero then back to max ohm when you remove the pressure from the membrane |

Re: Club Car 2010 Precedent. Brake Light Switch Install
I misled you a bit.....you will have to disconnect the 2 wires coming off the brake switch so you can connect the vom to the 2 wires coming from the switch
the 2 wires going to the back should not be connected to anything during the above procedure. |

Re: Club Car 2010 Precedent. Brake Light Switch Install
....an additional note
if you do the same thing with your old switch....doesn't have to be installed....you will probably note that the vom does go to 0, then back to max when released, if you push in random points on the membrane......but not everywhere on the membrane. |

Re: Club Car 2010 Precedent. Brake Light Switch Install
After fiddling with the brake pad and pedal cover, we were able to get it to work-- sort of. Apparently, the design of this pad leaves something to be desired. Is there some happy place to adjust the pad so it behaves properly? If we install it snug, the light just stays on. If we loosen parts up, it will go on and off when the pedal is depressed, but there is no way to maintain consistency.

I suspect if you fiddle with it you will get a reliable setup. BTW did you do the vom test I suggested on either switch?
Here is the pic of the aftermarket set-up that a lot of my neighbors are using. |

I'm not quite sure what I'm looking at with this picture?

Re: Club Car 2010 Precedent. Brake Light Switch Install
I was just trying to show you how the switch kit you originally purchased....and sent back....would look when installed. I wanted you to see how that kit would be wired if you cannot get your current switch set-up to work to your satisfaction.
