PDS Speed Chip switch on & off
I am thinking about getting a 2003 PDS and I was wondering about the speed chips that you can get for them. I know the chip is really just a couple of wires but have not seen one in person or how and where it plugs into the cart. My question is, can the speed chip be made into a switch so that when my wife drives the cart, she can drive it without the extra speed?

Yes, we know of a fella (Andy4639) who sells a switch/harness setup that allows you to select all four configurations.

Re: PDS Speed Chip switch on & off
Unless you go with the one that Andy makes - in my opinion - it's not worth the hassle. It's not like you're taking a cart from 14mph to 60.... hopefully your wife can drive it at 18mph or so.
There is always the option of taking your foot off of the long skinny pedal. :-) |

Re: PDS Speed Chip switch on & off
Should be really simple to do with a 4-position rotary switch. If someone can point me to the circuit diagram of the 4 configs, I can draw up a circuit diagramn and material list for DIY. All you would have to do is drill a hole like on the seat bench, mount the pre-wired switch, and plug it into the controller.

Re: PDS Speed Chip switch on & off
Thanks for the info, I'll definitely contact Andy4639 if I get the ezgo. What are the four configurations? Also just to make sure I have this right a TXT is a series controller cart and DCS/PDS carts are regens.
Thanks |

Yes, TXT can be series or shunt. They are all TXT with unique and different control systems. i.e. TXT-non DCS/PDS (fleet or series); TXT-DCS; TXT-PDS. Clear as mud now? LOL! |

Re: PDS Speed Chip switch on & off
I have confidence that my wife can drive it with the chip but I'm sure she would rather have the option since we have a four year old daughter riding in the cart. I know this because that is the main reason she doesn't want me to buy my Dad's ParCar because it's too fast.
Thanks PG for the crystal clear mud. lol |
