Predator 420cc wiring
I'm sure this has been covered a thousand times, but what are the black wires for? I know one kills the engine, but what are the two back ones that exit low? One is in a rubber block with a yellow (oil) wire? Please and thank you!

Re: Predator 420cc wiring
There are two black wires that come together at a single splice, that you should see. As you mentioned, they both kill the engine by grounding the coil.
The first black wire would run all the way to a key switch (you likely have electric start), so that when the key turns off...so does the motor. The second black wire, runs to a plug terminal that transitions to a relay that is actuated by an oil level sensor (yellow wire runs through a bolt head on the side of the crank case. This circuit would shut the engine off if it detects low oil (or rather if you flip upside down on your cart!). You can disengage the oil sensor circuit, and the key switch ground will still be able to shut off the engine. Some people do this so they can remove that oil sensor altogether. Hope that helps. |

Re: Predator 420cc wiring
Any reason I can't use stock ignition switch and peddle start, since I'm using stock starter? 301 predator in 85 ds gas.
