Default Yamaha G2 rear shocks

I have a jakes lift on my G2 and it uses the stock shocks front and back. I want to add a rear seat to it and I’m pretty sure I would need to upgrade the rear shocks. Looking for rear shock suggestions, adjustable or not.

I used G19 (electric cart) rear shocks on a G9. Much stiffer due to the weight of the batteries in a G19. I did not have a rear seat though.

Default Re: Yamaha G2 rear shocks

I used new stock shocks on the last G9 one I built. The lift was a Jakes LT and it had a rear seat. With 2 adults (approx 350lbs) it rode fine. Any more than that and I'd expect to see some droop in the suspension and some handling issues.

On another cart used atv shocks that measured 17" eye to eye. The shocks were long enough to take the place of the rear lift bracket parts and still gave it 6" of lift. These shocks were much stiffer than stock. They were front shocks from a Yamaha Raptor 660, and I also used Suzuki LTZ400 shocks, same measurement. If you are looking for 6" in the rear this might be an option.

On another cart I used Polaris Sportsman 600 front shocks and used a homemade spacer made from square steel tubing. Worked great, and these were even stiffer shocks than the other atv shocks I've used.

I have a whole pile of atv and utv shocks that I've tried over the years. If you want to try any let me know lol
