Any Billet STEEL Flywheels Available?
The reason I ask, I've been using my garden tractor (Bolen H14XL) which I repowered with a 440cc Duromax, for mowing and general yard duty for the last few years. This past winter I purchased it's new replacement, so the Bolens is relegated to recreational uses and the wife will finally let me do with it what I have wanted to for a long time, Garden Tractor Pulling!
I would eventually like to build up the "Stock Altered" class, that allows higher RPMs and more modifications, however the sanctioning club does not allow anything over 4,000rpm with any stock flywheel. The available aluminum flywheels are great for applications that favor quick revs, they weigh 4-5 pounds. Most pullers (mostly flathead Kholers) run billet steel flywheels weighing 28-34 pounds. The GX/Clone aftermarket seems to have plenty of options suitable for pulling, with the exception of a heavy, or even stock weight flywheel. |

Re: Any Billet STEEL Flywheels Available?
I wonder if the steel billet that Performance 670 sells for the 670 could be fitted in one way or another ? You know the adage "If it is steel "

I saw that one. Anyone know if they flywheel taper is the same from a 670 to a big block single?
It has no magnet for an ignition coil. A new ignition system can be put together with common automotive parts. |

The way things go these days, they could be saying that just for liability reasons.
Is that motor internally balanced or does it use the stock flywheel for balance? If the two are individually balanced then a competent machine shop could measure your crank taper and cut or ream the flywheel to fit. |
