Default Drum Splines gone again

If this an ongoing problem and a weak point in the ezgo drive train, why couldn't you drill the drum and axle and install a roll pin? I am considering this fix. Your thoughts please.

Scottyb sells a "clinch" hub/drum. Yes it is a week spot with ez-go's.

" Ess " is on the right track! You're wasting your time drilling and installing a roll pin. It will shatter into many pieces! Been there, done that!
The secret to these hubs is to have the axle nut tight! 140ft lbs and always tighten more if you need to line up for the cotter pin!

Thanks for the info. The last time ( about a year ago ) I replaced a drum, I threaded the drum and installed 2 set screws, didn't hold just groved the axle so I thought a hard roll pin might be the answer. Glad to know you already tried that mouse trap. I can tell you I never put 140 lbs torque on the nut, my mistake. I see someone is selling a split drum, has anybody tried that?
Thanks

The problem is well documented. Ezgo hubs are made for golf. Ausco makes a hardened hub that will take the abuse from bigger tires, heavier loads, and off road use. This new hub comes with a Club Car brake drum which fits the Ezgo brake assembly. Go here > http://cartsunlimited.net/Ezgo_Pinch_Hubs.html
