Update for the summer of 2010.........

I used the cart for most of the summer as I built it. I ran it at the campgrounds and a parade or two and decided that running at full throttle and then off got old pretty quick.

Remember, this build still had the resistor coils and wiper board still in place.

I decided it was time to build further. I already had the bigger cables and solenoid. So all I had to do was get a pot box and controller. I decided on an Alltrax AXE 400 amp controller. The install was a learning experience and will help me in this winters build of the royal ride. I had to make up the controller and pot box bracket, throttle linkage and how to mount up the solenoid. And to make all this fit under the seat. There was probably a better way to do this whole upgrade, but it works.

I have tested the cart on the jack stands and it works. It seems a little slow, but I haven't had time to take it for a ride yet. I will probably have to program the controller as I think I read that Alltrax programs the throttle at 50%. So as time permits, I will get it on the road. But at least now I can cruise around with out worrying about burning stuff up or wearing out the gas pedal hinges. Here are the pics.

That looks great. Yeah I want a lift and wheels for mine as well. How is the performance with the 400 amp controller?

I like it a lot. I changed it over to 48 volts and can get about 20 mph. But the best part is I can cruise slowly around the campgrounds without worrying about burning something up

yea mine has the stock controller (275 amp I think) and its slow haha. So im looking to doing a upgrade and not sure if I want the 400 or 500 amp controller. Either way it will only be 36v untill my batteries which are 3 years old die. Then I will do the 48v swap.

I would say with a stock motor, a 400 amp is all you need. The stock motor won't pull much more amps than that. If your going to put a bigger motor in it, then go with the 500 amp.
