Unhappy Cart's max speed randomly reduced

Hi All,

We purchased a Club Cart two years back. While riding, the cart's max speed will go down to ~9mph. It is fully charged and pedal pushed completely. To reset the max speed, we have to toggle the tow/run switch. Then the max speed is back to ~15mph.

We have brought it back to the dealer 3 times and they "were unable to reproduce the issue."

We haven't found a pattern yet. It happens with one person or when we have 4. Sometimes it will happen right away or will happen after several uses.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,
Stephen

What year and type of cart is this?

This sounds like a flaky speed sensor issue or connection to it.
Tow/Run switch, well maybe but I think it would just stop if that is the case.

I am out for awhile but others here can help you.
Just need more information.

Welcome to BGW!

The serial number starts with PH1209. So a Precedent 2012?

It sounds like it could be an MCOR. Next time it happens, stop, put it in neutral (not F or R) and depress the pedal 25-30 times and see if it helps. Just my first thought

You either have a bad speed sensor, loose connection on it ,or you could have a solenoid sticking closed which will cause the cart to go into limp mode. One other thing is you may need a drop out harness. Some of the precedents had a problem that required a drop out harness. That very well may be your problem.
