A boiling battery usually means it is being overcharged. It could be low on fluid as well. Check it and add some distilled water if you can.

Fluid?do you mean distilled water?. So why is it when I drive my cart it smells like something is burning? Is it because it was charged to much?My hydrometer says its charged?I have a 2001 clubcar 48volt

Thanks for you input

I'll let one of the electric guys get into the specifics of your cart electrical problem if there is one. I was just answering the battery question with what I have experienced in the past with a gas vehicle. Most batteries will boil over if they are overcharged and they will overcharge easily if they are low on sulphuric acid. If you have a battery that is low of sulphuric acid, you can add distilled water to it: just above the plates.

Thanks again...I am not going to charge it for a day or so to see if that helps the burning smell go away!

Do you have maintenance free batteries or are they where you can check the fluid level?

It can also tell you if you are overcharging or over draining?
