That's pretty cool! but, it's sucks that a perfectly good/cool golf cart was ruined in the process! (IF... he keeps it!)

If I were you, I'd be patient, Maybe... he'll find that when he doesn't have any work space (desk), you just might get it back!
If not, then give away/sell/scrap what you have. and go out and find another "classic" and build your own!

You obviously have "the eye" for cool carts, And, I bet you already have "the bug",
and now with the experience with working with one, I bet you could do amazing things with a cart... ANY cart!

All in all... I'll give you two thumbs up for the "prank"!

Well, I went the donate route. I found someone who was very interested in the frame to make a go cart for his son. He said he was handy with welding so hopefully he succeeds! Anyway, I did learn a lot and will be revisiting the hobby in the future!

I would have took/snuck the body out of his office and replaced it with a model and never said a word.
