Nice bucks, I've only been out twice this season (sep28-February 28, MLD) due to managing my dad's affair and taking care of him. Went out yesterday with the intent of shooting a doe, and a pig, just to relax and de-stress.

It was a great day in the woods

170lb sow

Two does, 80lb and 60lb

I'll start working on a buck or two in the next couple weeks, and a whole lot more does

These pics were taken where I work, it's a Deer haven, we can count up to 50 in one field sometimes.

Y'all just rub it in a little. I have gotten my share of deer and none will be any better than the next but I want some pork. They are not cooperating. I haven't pulled the trigger on piggy in 2 years. I would rather have some sausage that venison. It is not that they aren't around, they just visit when I'm not.

I missed a nice 8ptr this season. It was a nice mature buck. I don't know how to estimate scoring, but it would have been my biggest buck of 45 years of chasing em. I sighted my rifle after miss. It was 4 inches high at 25 yds. Deer I missed was 60-70 yds away. After resighting rifle I was hunting the last day of season and a group of 6 doe came out. I needed the meat so I shot the largest and closest doe to me. DRT(dead right there). Problem was I aimed for a heart/lung shot and I hit her in the spine.
Looking for a new rifle. Old rifle has had accurracy problem in past. Before this season had new mounts and scope pro installed. Giving up on this rifle. Its a Remington 742.
Going to buy a new Rem 700. Probably a .308, maybe a .243
Eating good, but wish I was eating good while looking at that nice mount on the wall. Have to double up time in the woods next season. Three weeks vacation starting in May. Save those days till deer season and take the month of Nov. off. I work 14 days on and 7 days off, so with 3 weeks vacation I'll have 5 weeks off in a row. Yahoooooo.

Sorry bout u missing that good buck. I have a Rem 742 in 243 that is a tack driver. Just traded for a Marlin xs7 bolt action n 308 that shoots really well.

Buckman, What brand is the scope? I would replace the scope first. Sounds like the scope won't hold a zero.

Have you tried grabbing the scope and see if it moves on the rifle? The base screws may have back out.

If you still have factory sights on the rifle, I'd fire a three round group and see how well it shoots without scope. If it does, I'd look for a new scope. Depending on your old scope manufacturer, some manufacturers have been known to replace your old scope with a newer model. Tasco, no way since they went under and repairing it, you can get another one for not much more.
