Default Clutch wear surface treatment?

A little over a year of hard recreational use got me here.

Bought another new 94C, and wondering if anyone has tried hard anodizing the wear surface.
I've made some changes to get it shifting quicker in most driving conditions, but it's still gonna hang in low while grinding my way through sugar sand.

Wow! I've wondered when mine will get there...5 years now, steady abuse in mud and sand, and I don't have half that wear. No clue how much use it had before that...cart's a '99. Interested to hear the group's input.

Funny thing is, the belt lasted as long as the clutch.
In the back pic, you can see the spots that it's about to wear through; and the belt recently got its first crack in the underbelly. If the contact angles weren't screwed up from the driver wear, I'd keep using the belt.

What clutch is that, and what belt are you running? What motor? That's alot of wear!

Bulk of the wear was done with this setup.
Clutch: 94C with 6 black pucks and pink spring (factory setting)
Belt: Dayco HP 2011
Driven: EZGO 28* w/ spring set to middle hole
Engine Kawasaki FD620D
Environment: mostly severe off road, except for 2 trips to Fort Wilderness.

I've changed things a bit for a quicker upshift since noticing the wear.
Swapped back to 36* driven, spring in middle hole.

When I put the new clutch on, I took 3 weights from the old one and added to the new one, for a full set of 9 pucks. Moved spring in driven to the hole with least tension. This new setup feels good and is finally making the engine do some work.

It's still gonna spend some time in low since I encounter a fair bit of sugar sand; so I'm looking for a way to get the contact surface hardened up.

If that is a pic of the 94c primary, it spent most of its time in low range under alot of pressure. Lightening the secondary will help with the wear. What size pucks are in the 94c? I run (6) 7/8" pucks in my 94c with a modded 16hp vanny and it shifts out nice. Stock secondary is set to lightest spring setting.

Was running 6 of these. Had the holes filled with solder.

Now running 6 stock, and 3 with solder.

Did you ever check to see where the primary clutch was running under different loads? Mine runs out very quickly under minimal load(flat ground) and stays there until I put a considerable load on the cart(large incline). My clutch would need a very large load to backshift to the point where your clutch is showing wear. The pics indicate that the belt has been slipping alot at lower engagement.

It would shift up and down smoothly. It just took a lot for it to upshift.

It seems like my entire driving style was centered around getting it to ramp up, then keeping it there. About the time it got going, there would be a blind turn and loose sand to start all over again.

Until the new setup, I really never heard the engine bark like it was working.

I may drill another hole in the secondary to let more tension off the spring, and fill the other 6 puck holes with solder.
It would be nice for this thing to climb up out of sand, instead of grinding through it, up past my valve stems and dragging the diff skid plate.

Another thing is that this all wore on 1 belt. Maybe it got embedded with grit?
Reconsidering a belt shield in the near future.
