Default 6x8v Precedent 2005

Hi all, I have just installed 6x8v into my 05 Precedent.

My conundrum is the break in process versus the 'charge after each use' recommendation.

I only use the cart for golf and 1 round only takes it down to 92% not anywhere near the 50% recommended.....l cannot do extra miles on the course or at home l live in supurbia!

So far l have only done 3 or 4 recharges, l was lucky enough to have the Club Championships which involved playing 2 days in a row which let me get them down a bit over the 2 days....then charging. During a normal week l play Sat., Mon., Wed. and Sat. again.....this either means leaving the cart uncharged for the day/days between which means NOT following the 'charge after each use' recommendation.

Your thoughts would be appreciated. What would you do? Thanks in advance.

I would sell the cart and use the money for rentals when I golf. Seriously, I would think that you should be fine as long as you get a full charge after each use, or even after every second use. Keeping the water topped off and taking care of general maintenance and safety items will keep you going, and the batteries should last just as long under light use, as long as you take care of them.

Cheers arcitech, the guys I play with pay in beers for the ride so it is partly a financial commitment NOT to hire

BTW what does it cost to hire a cart for golf in the US? Here in Australia it can be up to $35x3 devided by 2 is $50 a week....the cart pays for itself in a year!

I often get asked how I keep my batteries so clean....so regular maintenance is already to the fore. Thanks for your comments.

It's funny, I fix my neighbors' golf carts for beers!! Cheers back at ya! I visited WA a couple of times (submarine service) loved every minute that I can remember!! Never made it out of Fremantle...no worries!!! Rentals run 25-50 here so i can see your point. You should be fine with watching the charge and not leaving them sit for more than a week without a full charge. I would expect that you'll get 5+ years of use and maybe more at your current rate. Our community allows carts, so we get a full use every day in the summer sometimes making 12 miles or more in beer runs to the beach!

In Australia it is called the 'beer economy'....one of our breweries even run a campaign on it...."2 cases to your mate who you accidentally sent your girlfriends latest picture to his mother!" that sort of thing.

Here is a pic of the 6x8v...

Aussie, if your using it that little its not gonna hurt anything to just charge it once a week..........i wouldn,t worry that much about plugging it in after every use with that little of it...............once a week regardless..........................

If you are using the SOC chart as your reference, new batteries usually are a higher voltage at rest (52v+), I would charge the cart after each round of golf regardless.

Thanks guys...much appreciated....they are holding 51.8v for 36hrs after charging and going down to 50.6v a couple of hrs after golf....I will charge them Wed's and Sat's for the next week or so and there after every use, thanks again.
