Lifted Cart rear brakes locking up
Haven found much info on this problem for DS carts, mostly just Precedent carts.
I have a 2000.5 Club Car DS 48 volt, Jakes 6 inch A-arm lift (blocks in the rear), it also has heavy duty 3 leaf pack springs in the rear. Lately the brakes are all or nothing, meaning that when I lightly apply the brakes They lock up and skid ( more so on the drivers side), the drivers side cable housing seems to be tighter. I took the drums off and inspected the shoes and other internals and have not found any problems or missing/broken pieces. What I’ve checked so far. 1. Parking brake has been disconnected, no help with locking up and skidding 2. Cables adjusted at Equalizer plate, no help with locking up and skidding 3. Brake shoes cleaned and adjusted, no help with locking up and skidding 4. Driver side cable disconnected at the clevis pin, obvious change in braking due to being down to one brake but the pedal seems softer and has more movement (not much) before it locks up. 5. U bolts are tight, no axle wrap noted. Any thoughts before I start replacing everything unnecessarily? Reread the instructions from Jakes but have not found any info on brake alterations needing to be done. I found an extension bracket for the cables... If there is a tension problem on the cables can the brake internals be swapped to the other side and flipped? Thanks |

Re: Lifted Cart rear brakes locking up
What about this step?
6. Passenger side cable disconnected at the clevis pin. This should be the same as the Precedent where the brake cable is to short once you lift your cart |

Re: Lifted Cart rear brakes locking up
From the replacement parts I’ve looked at the brake cables are the same length. No change with only the drivers side hooked up, still locks and skids.
Are longer cables available? |

Re: Lifted Cart rear brakes locking up
They do make longer cables. You can flip the drums around. Both help. You likely have axle twist that you can not see. Best set up for lift to not have brake problems is using two U bolts on each side like the all sport kit.
