I know this is pretty much a dead thread, but I emailed my Gwinnett County police the other day:

Hi! My name is Kelly Bell. I have a golf cart, that I ride inside my subdivision in Gwinnett. It has all the street legal stuff on it, lights, horn, street legal tires, hip restraints, ect. I use it to go to the pool and back inside my subdivision and back. My question is this:

I need to have the wheels balanced on my golf cart. To get to the wheel balancing place, I need to travel about 300 yards outside of my subdivision, by the side of the road and thru the parking lot of the wheel balancing place and a local bank, which is located on the corner of medlock bridge road and peachtree industrial blvd.

At no time would I be in a place where there is a posted speed limit over 25 mph. I hate to use a tow truck for this, and I am wondering if I could just drive my cart to the wheel balancing place. Can you help me?

Thank you!

Kelly Bell

Got a reply in two days. PM me if you want to email this guy:

Ms. Kelly,

You can absolutely take your golf cart to the shop. Just make sure you have your license with you and be cautious of other motorists that may not pay attention to you.

Have a great day.

I wonder what AIU/Motors means in his signature?

Why would you need permission if you are street legal?

Street legal is only good for roads 35mph and below I believe. And it's not street legal until you tag it.
